God’s faithfulness is evident all around us. Sometimes we are blind to the different ways God is working in our lives. However, even when we don’t see His faithfulness, we can have confidence in it because the Bible reminds us time and again that God is faithful. For example, Hebrews 10:23 says, “Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful” (NIV throughout).
It is easy to miss all the ways that God is at work. I am guilty of this just as much as anyone. Sometimes I don’t see God’s blessings, but other times I just think about all my blessings, and I feel overwhelmed by God’s faithfulness and the way He takes care of those who follow Him. It’s easy to be blind to these blessings if we do not seek them out.
To trust God’s commitment to us, we must first identify where He has been faithful in the past and where He is being faithful now. If we doubt God’s steadfastness, we have to trust that He is still faithful and that we just can’t see it. Second Timothy 2:13 says, “If we are faithless, he remains faithful, for he cannot disown himself.” If we question God’s faithfulness, it’s often because we are not faithful to Him. The Bible says “The Lord is with you when you are with him. If you seek him, he will be found by you, but if you forsake him, he will forsake you” (2 Chronicles 15:2).
One way God has been extremely faithful to me is by surrounding me continuously with people who help me to pursue Him more. God provides precisely the encouragement I need at just the right time. He has brought people into my life who remind me of my need for Christ and for pursuing Him first. Whether it is friends, mentors, teachers, pastors, grandparents, siblings, or parents, He has always created an atmosphere that encourages and enables me to follow Him. I am constantly reminded of God’s faithfulness when I observe the relationships He has bestowed upon me.
First Corinthians 1:9 encourages us, “God is faithful, who has called you into fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.” There is no way a person can doubt God’s faithfulness if they are looking for God’s blessings. If someone trusts the Bible and its promises, they cannot doubt the faithfulness of the One who wrote the Bible. The Word of God speaks of God’s faithfulness often and reminds us of God’s promise to always be with us. God’s faithfulness is prevalent in everyone’s lives. Are you seeking out the blessings God has given you?
