The Bible Advocate Press has a long history of commitment to biblical truth in what it publishes, striving to clearly represent the Word of God. We are also committed to maintaining high Christian ethics in our publications.
This can be a challenge in our society that leans heavily on technology, especially artificial intelligence (AI). We therefore want to clarify what is permissible use of AI in our publications and what is not.
• AI may be used to assist in the writing but not generate it from scratch. Doing so is not only unethical but also dangerous as it can plagiarize another author’s work. To be clear: Under no circumstances may an article, poem, tract, etc. be generated by AI tools. These include ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Copilot, and similar programs.
• The following is permissible use of AI:
- Brainstorming ideas, including titles
- Research (facts, quotes, data, etc. must be verified by valid sources)
- Proofreading of the author’s work for grammar, spelling, inconsistencies, structure, etc.
- Transcription of interviews for articles, etc.
Violation of this policy will result in immediate rejection of the author’s material and a warning to the author. A second violation will result in blacklisting the author.
In creating this policy, we have used several sources: InterVarsity Press, Wiley Publishing, Open Christian Press, Christian Daily International.
