Staff Bios
Jason Overman is the BA editor and co-director of GC Publications. After 24 years in the publishing industry (in sales and management) with the Harrison Daily Times, Jason left his general manager’s position to join the Bible Advocate Press family in 2015. He has served in ministry for 40 years and currently pastors the Church of God (Seventh Day) in Jasper, Arkansas, with his wife, Stephanie. They are parents to Tabitha and Isaac, and a daughter-in-law, Danielle. Jason enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, reading theology, playing his guitar, and walking in the beautiful Ozark Mountains he calls home. Contact: jason.overman@cog7.org.
Sherri Langton, associate editor, has worked for the Bible Advocate Press for 36 years. In addition to editing the BA, she oversees material for the e-zine Now What? and edits the Church of God newsletter Churchright, as well as curriculum and other literature for the BAP. Sherri also writes for other Christian publications and represents the BA at a number of Christian writers conferences in the United States. She lives in Denver, Colorado, where she enjoys walking, swimming, playing drums, and spending time with family. Contact: sherri@cog7.org.
Keith Michalak is Director of Publications at the Bible Advocate Press. He has worked in the Publications department at the Church of God since 1973, beginning with recycling lead for reuse and then operating machines in the print shop. At present, Keith does all the computer graphic design work you see in the Bible Advocate and in the Church’s other publications. When he’s not working, he spends time learning about steam trains. Martha Muffley is chairperson and contact for the Translation Oversight Department. Born and raised in Mexico City, she has lived in several states working and participating in several ministries along with her husband, Monico. Recently, the Muffleys moved to Lebanon, Oregon, to be closer to their family. When not ministering to others, Martha enjoys reading, music, and writing. They have three beautiful daughters — Karina, Melissa, and Erica — and three beautiful grandchildren. Contact: martha.muffley@cog7.org.
Mindy Baumer, Publications Distributor, was hired to work for the Bible Advocate Press filling orders and mailing everything from quarterlies to tracts to copies of the Bible Advocate. She also responds to emails and phone calls from Church members and pastors. Mindy has been married to her husband, Tony, since 2000. They have one son, Evan, who is currently attending the University of Wyoming. Mindy enjoys volunteering at their church, taking road trips, and watching football and baseball games in person or on television. She received her bachelor’s degree in interior design from Colorado State University. Having attended CSU and having grown up in San Diego, she usually roots for the CSU Rams, LA Chargers, and San Diego Padres. Most of all, Mindy is a dedicated wife, mother, and follower of Jesus.
Miriam Lagunas is the newest addition to the BAP family as administrative assistant/bookkeeper. She has over 15 years of experience in project coordination, where she has served as a vital link between organizations, internal teams, and external partners. Miriam currently lives in Lafayette, Colorado, with her husband, Josue, and their four children: Louis, Kevin, Oliva, and Aranza. The Lagunas family relocated from Houston, Texas, and are proud to be building a strong, supportive family in their new community. In her free time, Miriam enjoys crafting with my two younger daughters, creating unique items and participating in local craft fairs together.
