Eternal Kingdom<\/p>\n
I saw her pause, lean on her cane<\/p>\n
to listen to another person in pain,<\/p>\n
offering the hurt to share.<\/p>\n
I glimpsed her bouquet of garden flowers<\/p>\n
as she entered a sick room at visiting hours,<\/p>\n
bringing needed comfort and care.<\/p>\n
Once more, I viewed as she bowed to pray<\/p>\n
beside the casket of one gone away,<\/p>\n
though she was no blood kin.<\/p>\n
And later, when she cradled a sleeping newborn,<\/p>\n
she said to his mother, who seemed tired and worn,<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat a blessing your family has been.\u201d<\/p>\n
At her funeral I offered my own silent prayer,<\/p>\n
as I heard the praise for this life that shared<\/p>\n
our Lord\u2019s view of human worth.<\/p>\n
There I asked Him to guide my footsteps each day<\/p>\n
so the actions I take, the words that I say<\/p>\n
will remain when I\u2019m gone from this earth.<\/p>\n
