I watched in astonishment the first time I saw Spock perform a “mind meld” on someone. “My mind to your mind, your mind to my mind,” then they became one of thought and intellect. Once joined by the Vulcan “mind meld,” the two parties will forever be linked as one.

Many of us remember the big events of life and where we were. Neil Armstrong stepped out onto the moon. 9/11. The space shuttle fell out of the sky. The assassination of President Kennedy.

I remember where I was on September 8, 1966. I was watching the very first televised episode of Star Trek. Little did I know I would become a “Trekkie.” My mind would be melded to a science fiction show. Being a “Trekkie” certainly was not my goal in life, but I guess Spock reached out and melded with my mind.

Becoming One with God

Meld, v. “To blend, merge.” To become one with someone or something. Mind, n. “center of thought, feeling, etc.” To merge as one and become of the same thought process and intellect. Have we ever thought about God reaching out to us to blend His mind to our mind? A “mind meld” with God is worth some exploring.

God, the final frontier, where no man, no one has gone before.

“Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus” (Phil. 2:5 NKJV). (Unless otherwise noted, all Scripture is NKJV.)

What an interesting way to think about what God wants for us. He is willing to put His mind into our mind. A God “mind meld.” He wants us to merge and become one with Him, having the same thought process and intellect. His goal for us is to have us become “partakers of the divine nature…” (II Pet.1:4b). To be a part of His family (Rom. 8:14-17). His nature, His mind, His way of thinking, His way of love and kindness.

How Do We Mind Meld with God?

At the end of his first Pentecost sermon, Peter concluded with, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins: and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit” (Acts 2:38). What are the steps to melding our mind with God’s mind? What are the steps of becoming one with our Creator?

  1.

    1. To change, ask for forgiveness.

    2. To be washed from our sins.

    3. Receive the GIFT of the Holy Spirit. God’s power and mind being put into us.

    4. We must also believe God. “He who believes and is baptized will be saved” (Mark 16:16a).

Repent, baptize, receive the gift of God – His mind in us though His Holy Spirit, and believe.

Jesus is the Word of God (John 1:1). The Bible is His Word written out for us. To continue our mind melding with God, we must study His Word (Jesus and His written-out instruction book: the Bible). Paul reminds us to “Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” (II Tim. 2:15).

      In Complete Agreement and Harmony

Can we imagine a world where all people have “mind melded” with God? No sin. No injustice. Pure love for all, unselfish outgoing concern towards everyone. Our friends, spouse, fellow members of the Church of God, would all be in complete agreement and harmony with each other and with God.

“For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the LORD: I will put My laws in their mind and write them on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people” (Heb. 8:10). Mind melded with God!

It sounds like the Kingdom of God to me. When we pray, we are mind melding with God. When we study, we are mind melding with God. Let Him put His mind in us so we can become one with Him.

[bctt tweet=”When we pray, we are mind melding with God. – Mike Wallace” via=”no”]

“My mind to your mind, your mind to my mind,” then we became one of thought and intellect with God and Jesus, our Savior. Once joined by the God “mind meld,” the two parties will forever be linked as one.

Now, we have truly gone where no man, no one has gone before….
