Young adults sitting outside using smartphones, enjoying sunny weather.

I think my family is addicted to their smartphones. How should I address this problem?   Electronic devices are addictive and damaging to people when their use becomes a way of avoiding people; you hold them in one hand and drive with the other;  their use means that you are often inattentive to others; you […]

Two hands reaching towards each other in black and white, symbolizing connection and unity.

Four women in colorful gingham dresses and sneakers, standing side by side outdoors, showcasing summer fashion. What is God’s stand on women using trousers, earrings, dressing of hair, and makeup? I have seen CoG7 women displaying these in the magazine. It is regarded as sin in our churches here in Nigeria. A close reading of the primary texts on this subject, then comparing Scripture with Scripture, leads us to these conclusions: […]

]]> Is it wrong to smoke? https://baonline.org/is-it-wrong-to-smoke/ Fri, 31 Dec 1999 16:59:49 +0000 https://baonline.org/?p=24061 Where does the Church stand on smoking? I have read many opinions ranging from it being a blatant sin to it being a form of God-given pleasure when done in moderation. Thanks for your question, not often asked anymore. With anti-smoking efforts now in vogue, the Church says less about tobacco than it once did. We […]

]]> Is it wrong to celebrate birthdays? https://baonline.org/is-it-wrong-to-celebrate-birthdays/ Fri, 31 Dec 1999 16:52:44 +0000 https://baonline.org/?p=24059 I’m interested in your stance on birthdays. Since celebrating them has pagan origins like Easter and Christmas, I think we should not. The Church does not have a doctrine on birthdays, for or against. We are aware of the claim that celebrating them has pagan roots but not aware of proof for that claim. It […]
