The Early Church In the last two issues we’ve looked at the personal faithfulness of two giants of the Old and New Testaments, Abraham and Peter. We have examined the relationship of living faith between individuals and our heavenly Father, but faithfulness is also a communal reality. We are God’s people, so what does a […]

Some experiences change you forever. When I was fourteen, my first boyfriend raped me. I was forever changed, and I didn’t tell anyone — especially not my mom because she had forbidden me to see him. I had disobeyed her when I went to his house with no one else home. In the short term, […]

“I will never leave you nor forsake you” (Hebrews 13:5). When I was eight years old, I read Bible verses that explained God’s love, my sin, Jesus’ sacrifice, and my need to repent and accept God’s grace in faith. God spoke to my heart. Although not audibly, He called to me: “Trust Me. Follow Me. […]

As a minister, I have always loved meaningful, descriptive words. When I first learned the word evangelical, I was impressed by its definition and excited to say, “I am an evangelical!” Though I’m still attracted to it, in recent years I have been more reluctant to state publicly that simple, joyful response from the heart: […]

The Bible instructs us to be like God, but many attributes of His we cannot attain to or even mimic: His eternality, His knowledge of all, His power over all, His transcending presence, and His perfection, to name a few. But some attributes we may properly aspire to, such as His loving-kindness, mercy, grace, and […]

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths (Proverbs 3:5, 6, ESV). Barreling down the freeway toward Grandma and Grandpa’s house, I heard the dreaded “low fuel” warning come on. I knew, but had forgotten, that the gas was low. […]

by Tanner Scott   God has many attributes, and all of these perfections are important. I say perfections because God is the perfect embodiment of His attributes, including His faithfulness. Hebrews 11:1 says, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen” (NKJV). Faith is necessary for Christians if […]

by Dinah Davis   What does God’s faithfulness mean, exactly? In short, it means His steadfast trustworthiness. I have always thought that our job was to be faithful to God, not for God to be faithful to us. However, that is not the case. It is much more difficult for us to be faithful than […]

by Kara Caswell   God’s faithfulness is evident all around us. Sometimes we are blind to the different ways God is working in our lives. However, even when we don’t see His faithfulness, we can have confidence in it because the Bible reminds us time and again that God is faithful. For example, Hebrews 10:23 […]

by Abrianna Sandy   As Christians, we put our faith in God because we know that He is faithful to us and loves and protects us. God’s faithfulness is what our whole faith is based on, and faith is the foundation of Christianity. Psalm 37:3 says, “Trust in the Lord, and do good; dwell in […]
